Graduated from the Department of Communication, Hong Kong Baptist University. Dr. Tao obtained her master\u2019s degree in Theatre Arts from the College of Creative Arts, San Francisco State University. She continued to study acting and directing at the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco. Later, she was rewarded a doctorate degree by the Department of Humanities and Creative Writing of Hong Kong Baptist University, focusing on drama.<\/p>\n

After returning to Hong Kong, Dr. Tao has worked in culture, media and publishing for many years, occasionally participating in stage and TV performances. She joined the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre in 2002 and was the first drama and literature researcher of the theatre and the first full-time drama literature researcher in Hong Kong. In 2004, she also served as an assistant to the artistic director of the theatre. From the end of 2007 to the end of 2008, she was appointed to be the editor of the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre.<\/p>\n

She used to be the Vice Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Whole Theatre, and a lecturer in the Department of Drama at the Faculty of Education, University of Macau. She is currently an examiner of Arts Criticism of the Hong Kong Drama Awards and the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, columnist for the \u300a\u6587\u532f\u5831\u300b\u300c\u91c7\u98a8\u7248\u300d, critic of the \u201cperforming arts edition\u201d of \u201cMacau Daily News\u201d and director of Pop Theatre.<\/p>\n

The scripts she wrote in recent years include:\u300a\u5982\u771f\u5982\u5047\u300b, \u300a\u8774\u8776\u8207\u5929\u8679\u300b, \u300a\u5be2\u5ba4\u7269\u8a9e\u300b. \u300a\u8774\u300bis included in the \u300c\u4e2d\u5b78\u4e2d\u570b\u8a9e\u6587\u6232\u5287\u6559\u6750\u7cfb\u5217\u4e8c\u4e4b\u5287\u672c\u9078\u8f2f\u53ca\u5c0e\u8cde\u300d(selected scripts and guided appreciation of the secondary school Chinese language drama teaching material series) by the Hong Kong Education Bureau. She has been invited by the Hong Kong Education Bureau several times to give lectures on drama appreciation courses for secondary school teachers. From 2008 to 2012, she served as the host and coordinator for \u300a\u5287\u5834\u6703\u5ba2\u5ba4\u300bof the online TV station “OurTV”, and has interviewed 100 Hong Kong theatre workers.<\/p>\n

She has organized an academic seminar of the Proceedings & Papers of \u201cRe-visit Cao Yu\u201d Symposium<\/em> for the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre; edited, wrote and coordinated 15 performing arts and drama publications, including: Gems of Theatre Arts\u2014Hong Kong Repertory Theatre Silver Jubilee Commemorative Book<\/em>,\u300a\u9999\u6e2f\u8a71\u5287\u5718\u516c\u53f8\u8cc7\u6599\u518a\u300b, Let\u2019s Talk about Hong Kong Repertory Theatre<\/em>, Let\u2019s Talk about Theatre Review<\/em>, HKREP 30\u2014Hong Kong Repertory Theatre 30th Anniversary Commemorative Book<\/em>, Proceedings & Papers of \u201cRe-visit Cao Yu\u201d Symposium<\/em>, The Stage Art of \u201cSecret of Resurrection\u201d<\/em>, Let\u2019s Talk about Playwright <\/em>and The Stage Art of \u201cDr. Faustus\u201d<\/em>; edited the \u300a\u54c1\u5473\u6232\u5287\u2013\u9999\u6e2f\u8a71\u5287\u5718\u6f14\u51fa\u5c0e\u8cde\u624b\u518a\u9078\u300b published by the International Association of Theatre Critics; edited the \u300a\u9999\u6e2f\u5287\u58c7\u9ede\u5c07\u9304\u300b\uff08\u7b2c\u4e94\u8f2f\uff09 published by the Hong Kong Federation of Drama Societies; edited the \u300a\u6232\u5287\u5927\u5e2b\u937e\u666f\u8f1d\u7684\u6232\u5287\u85dd\u8853\u4e4b\u821e\u53f0\u7bc7\u300b, \u300a\u6232\u5287\u5927\u5e2b\u937e\u666f\u8f1d\u7684\u6232\u5287\u85dd\u8853\u4e4b\u96fb\u8996\u7bc7\u300b and\u300a\u91cd\u8e0f\u9999\u6e2f\u696d\u9918\u8a71\u5287\u793e\u7684\u820a\u65e5\u8db3\u8ff9\u300b\uff08\u4e0a\u518a\uff09 published by \u7d05\u5bf6\u6587\u5316\u50b3\u64ad; and the author of \u300a\u9999\u6e2f\u8a5e\u4eba\u7cfb\u5217\u2014\u2014\u912d\u570b\u6c5f\u300b published by Chung Hwa Book Company.<\/div><\/div>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
