STORY INTRODUCTION

Children’s Literature Theater “Chirping?
Script Writer: Ms. Chiang Hiu Mei
Director: Mr. Chan Wing Chuen
?Story introduction
This story is a local adaptation inspired by a traditional Chinese tale. In the play, we incorporate elements of Chinese opera, allowing children to appreciate the rich cultural art form while enjoying the engaging storyline.
Cricket fighting was popular in the palace during the Xuande period of the Ming Dynasty. Little Kuk became a cricket because of an accident but, as a blessing in disguise, he made new friends and was given the new name Kuk Kuk. To resolve the crisis, Kuk Kuk first learned fighting skills from a teacher, then competed with many rare insects in the court. Will Kuk Kuk defeat the powerful enemies? Can the conscripted crickets return to nature? And for Kuk Kuk, can he change his fate, transform back into a human, and reunite with his parents?
