Monster
The story follows Ushimaru, a sixth-grade student at Matsuoka Elementary School in Oita City, during the turbulent period of World War II in 1942. As the war forces the school to graduate student early, the students are required to wear a white shirt for their graduation pictures. However, Ushimaru, living in poverty, only possesses a tattered vest and lacks the means to acquire a clean shirt. Undaunted by his circumstances, Ushimaru embarks on a two-week journey, facing numerous challenges, to find a white shirt to take his graduation picture alongside his classmates. With unwavering determination, Ushimaru’s resilience is fueled by the support and creativity of his fellow classmates, leading them to discover a unique solution to their predicament. Through their selfless acts of generosity, they remind us of the power of human connection to overcome even the greatest of hardships.
